Cotton futures saw Dec up 6 cents for a brief moment on Tuesday, but contracts fell from their highs, with gains of 5 to 326 points in the new crop contracts. Deferred contracts were down 120 to 230 points on thin trade.  The daily limits will revert back to the new 5 cent limit for the Wednesday session.

In the weekly Crop Progress report from NASS, Texas had 21% of the crop with bolls open, up 3% on the average. Just three states saw deteriorating conditions (KS, LA, and OK), with TX and GA both a point higher. 

The Seam reported 1,102 bales sold on Monday, at an average price of 1.23 cents/lb.

The Cotlook A Index (old crop) was 400 points higher at 126.75 cents on 8/15.  USDA’s AWP for cotton was down 1.29 cents on Thursday, to 88.15 cents/lb. That will be updated this Thursday.

Oct 22 Cotton  closed at 122.25, up 281 points, Dec 22 Cotton  closed at 116.85, up 326 points,
